Varsity boys basketball face Bowie in playoff game
The playoff matchup is set. The varsity boys basketball play against Bowie High School (20-9) who they’ve already played twice in the season. The game is Tuesday night at Bowie High School. The Highlanders (23-5) won the first meeting 56-45 in the Fabens tournament. In the most recent matchup, the Highlanders escaped a close one beating the Bears 52-51 in the Austin tournament.
“We’re very familiar with them and how they play. We’ve beat them twice already, and I see ourselves winning tomorrow night. We have to play as a team and with zero mistakes.” senior forward Isaiah Aguilera said.
Senior guard Sergio Enriquez agreed with Aguilera.
“We know what’s at stake and what we have to do to win. There’s no room for any mistakes. We have to start at a fast pace and fire on all cylinders. We just have to play our game.”
“We’re all excited and ready to play. If we’ve beat them earlier in the season then there’s no reason why we shouldn’t win tomorrow night. We’re going to go to their gym, play our basketball and hope to come out with the win,” senior forward Joel Golston added.
The playoff matchup is set for 7p.m. If the Highlanders beat the Bears, it will be coach Rob Dibler’s second straight Bi-District title, beating Burges in last year’s state playoffs.
