Student Council is the “voice” of the students and regular “boosters of school spirit,” Student Council Director Phillip Barazza said. Some key things Student Council coordinates throughout the year are Homecoming, Street Fest, pageants, the Fashion Show, Senior Farewell Assembly and various community service projects. In order to successfully run these events, student council members must have “self-discipline, self-motivation, dedication,” as well as, “responsibility,” Barazza said.

Students interested in Student Council can go to Barazza in Room 101 for more information, and participation is greatly encouraged. Student Council would also like to say that their main goal “is to make Bel Air even greater!"

HOSA, otherwise known as the Health Occupations Students of America, is “a national student organization whose main mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people,” Adviser Susan Anderson said. Students who are currently enrolled in the Health Science Technology course are able to join HOSA.

HOSA does require that all participants pay a small state and national due as well as attend all meetings; participation in other HOSA activities is also highly encouraged. Some events that HOSA members can participate in include helping with the HOSA homecoming float, helping run the HOSA booth at Bel Air’s Street Festival, community service activities, health fairs, he HOSA Leadership Conference that takes place in late all, as well as other area and state conferences.
