Varsity boys soccer team advances
With Monday’s win, the boys varsity soccer team moves on to the Sweet 16 in the UIL Texas State Playoffs. The team defeated the Eastlake Falcons in front of their home crowd by the score of 3-2.
Senior captain and goalie, Frank Rodriguez is excited to have qualified for the Sweet 16.
“The emotions and feelings that come with this game is great ,especially if you’re in our shoes. We have fought hard all season, and it has paid off but it does not stop here. I want finish my high school career with a bang.”
Sophomore striker, Jesus Lerma agreed with Rodriguez.
“Eastlake is a very good team, and us beating them shows that we can compete at a high level.”
Junior Isaac Vega is confident going into Friday’s matchup against the Denton High School Broncos in Wichita Falls. Kick off is at 1:30 p.m..
“I feel like our team has more experience and overall better talent than Denton. We cannot make mental mistakes, and we cannot lose composure. If we can accomplish that, I’m sure we will come back home with a dub.”
Lerma agrees.
“Denton High School is a tough opponent but if we play the way we have been all season we can come out with a win.”
