Harry Potter rereleased with stunning illustrations
Last week a full illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was released, and it was spectacular. The book contained more than 100 illustrations done by Jim Kay, a British artist. There are plans to release fully illustrated versions of the other six books in the phenomenal Harry Potter series, one every year.
The book was highly anticipated, which is no surprise given the considerable amount of Harry Potter fans, and did not disappoint. Kay’s illustrations were undoubtedly gorgeous and detailed. He reimagined locations and characters that were very near and dear to many people’s hearts, but did it in a way that allowed fans to rediscover a world they loved.
Kay’s designs were well thought out, true to the book, and flawlessly executed. Re-imagining a world that means so much to so many is no small task. Kay managed to take beloved characters and breath new life into them, rather than change them into something too unfamiliar to be enjoyable.
The book provides longtime fans a new way to enjoy a familiar story, but also makes it easier for newer younger fans to discover the world of Harry Potter for the first time. This book is available online and in stores at prices ranging from $23 to $40, and is 100 percent worth the price.
