Varsity Basketball boys end dry streak
After losing three games in a row, the varsity boys basketball team are back on track after beating Horizon at home on Friday. The final score for the game was 60-44. They now have a overall district record of 20-5 and a district record of 7-4. They are now in third place trailing Del Valle and Eastlake.
Senior point guard Sergio Enriquez wants to end season on a high note.
“We are finally getting back to our winning ways. We are getting ready to close out district play and get ready for playoffs.”
Senior center Ruben Mendoza agreed with Enriquez.
“Beating Horizon was the spark that we needed to get back to winning. We want to finish the season with nothing but W’s and carry that into the playoffs. We played with a chip on our shoulder on Friday and that’s how we should play every game.
Senior forward Joel Golston talked about their motivation for Friday’s game.
“They got lucky against us the first time we played. We reminded ourselves before the game what had happened the first time around. That made us play extra hard and that gave us that extra motivation.”
The Highlanders look to sweep the season series against Parkland High School.They won the first matchup 58-35. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
