Cross Country
Coach Jerry Shaffer and his cross country team said they are very excited about this season. When the gun goes off, the team knows that all the hard work and dedication they’ve put in is about to pay off.
Coach Shaffer plans on finishing his coaching career after about 20 years of coaching.
“His knowledge and experience will rub off on us,” senior Kevin Chavez said.
Coach Shaffer said he teaches his kids to keep moving forward.
“There is always more left even when you think you can’t keep going you have it in you to keep going,” coach Shaffer said.
Freshmen Emilio Hernandez said cross country makes him into a better athlete.
“ It keeps me in shape and prepares me physically for soccer,” Hernandez said.
Chavez loves the motivation and extra push he receives from his fellow runners and coaches.
“I love how my coaches and teammates push me to become a better athlete and give me the motivation I need to qualify for district.”
