The Freshman football team traveled to Eastlake High School to battle the Falcons this past Thursday. It was a defensive game and only 27 combined total points were scored. The Bel Air Highlanders pulled off a 14-13 win.

Led by Linebacker Carlos Garcia, the Big Red defense stopped the Falcons at the 1 yard line on a two-point conversion and held the Falcons to only 13 points. Garcia had key tackles in the game including the big stop on the goal line stand in the fourth.

“The Big Red is here to compete, and that’s what we have been doing this past year. We are here to contend for the district championship,” Garcia said.

Quarterback Isaac Ybarra had good things to say about the defense.

“The defense saved us the game. They showed composure and confidence especially in the last drive of the game.” Ybarra piled on two touchdowns and ran for 200 rushing yards.

The freshman are now 3-3 in the season and 2-1 in district play.
