Freshman football team secures another win
The freshman football team capped off a win against the Ysleta Indians last Thursday. The final score was 28-14. The scorers for the game were Dominic Bejerano, Andrew Murillo and Edgar Silva. They are now 2-0 in district play.
Coach Cecilio Porras was happy with the outcome.
“Our freshman never gave up and it paid off. I loved that they went 110 percent every play.”
Bejerano scored first on a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Orlando Hernandez. The tying touchdown was scored by Edgar Silva on another pass from Hernandez. The tying touchdown was scored with one minute left. After the Indians returned the Bel Air kick, the ball was stripped by Murillo and returned for a 22-yard touchdown. That score gave Bel Air a two possession lead. Ysleta wasn’t able to move the ball on the Highlanders after that.
Quarterback Hernandez was happy about the outcome.
“We were down for a while, but we never lost composure, and we managed to come back and win the game.”
Bejerano agreed with Hernandez.
“Ysleta thought they were going to get the best of us, but we never gave up and kept fighting till the clock hit zeros.
The Highlanders have a bye week this week but will continue next week against the Eastlake Falcons.
