Warm Bodies

It seems nowadays romance can occur for everyone including the supernatural. Many have already witnessed vampires and beasts fall in love. Now the spotlight is on zombies.
“Warm Bodies” is a sappy , sweet movie that will bring smiles from beginning to end. It is both charming and comical. Warm Bodies beats the Twilight Saga in being the next supernatural romance movie. It’s a mix of Romeo and Juliet and Edward Scissorhands.
Zombies become lonely especially “R” (Nicholas Hoult),
“I don’t want to be this way. I am lonely; I am lost. I mean I am literally lost, I have never been in this part of the airport before.”
“R” woke up as a zombie in an airport having that flesh craving instinct as well as his human self. He longed to become human again and not be lonely. Roaming the airport and listening to vinyls just wasn’t enough for him.
When “R” and his pack of friends go out hunting for food, “R” meets the love of his life, Julie Grigio (Teresa Palmer) – the one who can maybe make him feel human again. “R” plays it cool by trying to not be “too creepy” and ends up winning her heart with his clueless charm. The only thing getting in the way of their love is her father, General Grigio (John Malkovich) who is head of the camp where the humans are staying, and these creepy flesh-eating creatures called “bonies.” They must convince her father that “R” is cured and team up to fight the “bonies.”
Usually movies about a supernatural being falling in love with a human can sound pretty banal. While watching this movie one may wonder why they are watching this movie; but once a funny scene comes on, one is reminded of how remarkably amazing this film is. It’s not boring, nor is it silly. Believe it or not “Warm Bodies” warms hearts. It has all the elements a perfect movie needs: romance, humor/sarcasm, and realism.
Experiencing what “R” is experiencing makes him so real and the emotion Hoult puts into his character is perfection. The way Hoult walks and groans like a zombie might convince any human he was a zombie in a real life situation. Hoult has been featured in popular films such as “Clash of the Titans” and “X-Men: First Class”. Hoult played a disoriented zombie pretty well, as awkward as his character was, he made “R” look adorable.
Teresa Palmer who portrays Julie has always played tough girl characters in other films such as “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and “I am Number 4”.When Palmer portrayed Julie her character still expressed a strong tough independent woman. It’s a no brainer Palmer was perfect for the role of Julie. “Warm Bodies” gave viewers the chance to see Palmer’s funny side for the first time. Palmer’s character was amusing; one had to wonder why she wasn’t in more comedy films. Palmer likes to put in her characters the element of toughness, which suits her so much. No wonder Jonathan Levine, the director picked Palmer for this role.
Other popular stars featured in “Warm Bodies” were Rob Corddry who portrays “R’s” friend “M” and John Malkovich (General Grigio). The actors and actresses did so well in this film. No one who could have done a better job. “Warm Bodies” is the perfect date movie to see on Valentines Day. Its a must see romance of the month. It earns a rating of a 8.9 out of a 10. This film is rated PG-13 and is available at Cinemark Tinseltown, Cielo Vista Cinemark, and Premiere Cinema 18 at Bassett Center.
