Twelve of our school’s top wrestlers competed at regionals this past weekend with four qualifying for state. Daniel Lara, Lizbeth Nevarez, John Cereceres and Cheyenne Duran all qualified  and have a chance to do what every high school wrestler dreams of, to be a State Champion.

Coach Alex Carrillo said, “The wrestlers performed spectacularly. Many became better wrestlers and athletes. They learned how to chain moves one after another. Conditioning and strength levels were amazing.”

The four wrestlers that qualified for state leave next Wednesday, to Garland, Texas, to wrestle against the best wrestlers from all over Texas.

The other wrestlers that wrestled at Regionals include Vanessa Medina, Tony Norez, Larissa Preciado, Jasmine Gallarzo, Jose Saenz, Carlos Rios, Victoria Juarez and Frankie Lujan. Eight Wrestlers placed in regionals. Cheyenne Duran and John Cereceres placed 3rd in their weight class. Vanessa Medina, Daniel Lara and Lizbeth Nevarez placed 4th in their weight class and Tony Norez, Larissa Preciado and Jazmine Gallarzo placed 6th.
