Frozen Soundtrack Review
With adorable, catchy, and empowering songs, the Frozen soundtrack has seen almost as much success as the movie.
Husband wife duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez provided the lyrics while Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, and Santino Fontana provide vocals. The songwriters won an Oscar for best original song for “Let It Go.” The song is performed by Idina Menzel, who voices Elsa.
The song shows Elsa go from living in constant fear to coming to terms with who she is. She leaves the past behind and constructs and happily starts her new life of ice-o-lation (get it?) where she can finally be herself. The song has received lots of hype along with its critical acclaim, and it deserves it all. The song is clever and inspiring, the perfect shower jam.
“Do You Want to Build a Snowman” is another popular song. Anna, voiced by Kristen Bell, is singing it to Elsa, trying to convince her to come out and play. It’s adorable and filled with sincere emotion.
The song “For the First Time in Forever” shows the contrast between the sisters. It’s catchy and fun while also being heartfelt. The song shows the sisters’ reactions to finally opening up the gates of Arendelle.
“Love Is an Open Door” is an extremely cute and upbeat duet between Anna and Hans, voiced by Santino Fontana. Anna and Hans sing about wonderful they are together and how they finish each others’- “Sandwiches!”
“In Summer” is a silly and hilarious song sung by everyone’s favorite snowman, Olaf (voiced by Josh Gad). The snowman sings of his yearning for “summer and sun and all things hot.”
The dramatic reprise of “For the First Time in Forever” is an emotion packed duet between Anna and Elsa. It really helps to further characterize the princess and queen of Arendelle.
That’s just to name a few of the songs, all of which are amazing (not to mention the score). The point is this album is jampacked with great songs that are universally loveable. 10/10 stars, available anywhere CD’s are sold or on iTunes for $11.99.
